This Whiting & Davis Gold mesh clutch (1940’s – 1950’s) has a peachy satin lining, it has been previously loved! It has a great art deco style clasp which works fine, the inside has no tears or stains, the top flap does have one small dark spot, please see photos. The clasp has some wear on the gold tone and has just started to come away from the mesh. However, this is a nice addition to a collection, a good start to a collection or could be used for evenings out and dressy occasions!
The little white beaded purse is lined with a buttery soft leather, the beading is remarkably intact. I would estimate that this dates to the 1920’s, perhaps a bit earlier. The snap has come away on one side but is still hooked to the other side, there is a tag inside which reads “Hand Made in Belgium”. This would be a display piece, as it should be handled with care.
The Bakelite shoehorn is amber in color on one side and marbled on the other, the handle is very art deco – 1920’s to 1930’s. A nice decorative piece to add to a vintage vanity!
The cosmetics are all “sample size” and super cute! The Outdoor Girl Olive Oil Face Powder dates to the 1930’s, The Pompeian Day Cream (promises it “Will Not Grow Hair”!)- 1920’s, Mystic Moment Sachet by Fuller Brush Co. – 1950’s, Williams English Lilac Talc Powder – has a tax stamp dated 1915!, Cashmere Bouquet Lipstick – 1950’s. These tiny containers all have cosmetics in them!
