Vintage Mid Century Purple Rhinestone Insect Brooch, 1950s -1960s Costume Jewelry

Vintage gold-tone figural insect brooch dating to approximately the late 1950s–1960s. The body features a large marquise-cut deep purple (amethyst-colored) rhinestone surrounded by matching round purple rhinestones in an insect design.
The brooch measures approximately 2 inches long by 1 inch wide. The pin and rollover clasp work properly and hold securely. There is no maker's mark. The metal is gold tone and the stones are costume rhinestones rather than genuine gemstones. There is a small amount of polish residue remaining from a previous cleaning. The antennae and one front leg appear slightly bent, although they blend naturally with the movement of the design.
