Antique cast iron sewing bird clamp with original back pin cushion. This Victorian sewing bird has a working spring mechanism, with the beak opening and closing properly. The screw clamp attaches securely to a table or work surface.
The bird is marked "Patented" on one wing and "Feb 15, 1853" on the other. The original pincushion on the bird's back remains in place. The pincushion that would have originally been located beneath the beak is no longer present.
