Antique Mauchline ware box featuring a floral transfer on the lid along with a “Friendship” verse. The exterior shows scattered scratches and age wear, the latch is broken and tricky to open. One hinge is partially broken and will need a tiny hinge pin to repair. The interior is lined with blue ribbed paper that shows noticeable wear but remains intact. Measures approximately 2" tall, 5" wide, and 3" deep.
Mauchline Ware is so named because it was produced in or near a small town called Mauchline in Scotland. It is made of sycamore and often had transfer photos of popular tourist destinations. It was produced from the mid 1800’s until 1933 when the last Mauchline Ware factory was destroyed by fire.
