This early 1900’s D.M. Ferry Flower Seed Wooden Box was used as a General Store counter display. D.M. Ferry was a small seed growing company founded in Detroit around 1856. In the early 1900’s the company bought land in California to grow crops for seed. They bought Morse seed business in 1921 and in 1930 renamed their company Ferry-Morse Co. This info helps date the wooden, hinged, finger joinery oak seed box to the early 1900’s before they bought Morse. The box is in excellent condition, there is no damage to the label. The hinges are in place and work well. There are 4 seed envelopes included, one of them still has seeds in it!
The Choice Flower Seeds catalog is dated 1914. The lithographs on the front and back are beautiful. There is some insect damage, but it is minimal. The pages are all intact and readable. The Burpee’s Annual is dated 1927. There are colorful illustrations on the front and back covers as well as inside the book. This catalog is in very good condition!
