Late 1800's Shaving Kit, Complete Kit, Wood and Celluloid Box with Mirror

Measures: 4 inches tall, 7 1/2 inches wide, 6 inches deep

A beautiful, ornately decorated shaving kit dating to the late 1800s. This kit is complete with porcelain shaving mug, Bakelite shaving brush with natural bristles, and a straight razor with Bakelite handle. The exterior of the box is covered with embossed celluloid and iridescent paper. The latch is in place and works well. The cover has a mirror inside, the mirror has no cracks or breaks. The interior is lined with vibrant red silk. The shaving brush is marked Gillette. The razor is marked “Something New” on one side and “Edwards Solingen Made in Germany” on the other side. There is no damage to the razor. The shaving brush is in fine condition. The shaving mug has one crack in the top as shown in the photos and some very minor chips also shown in photos. The silk lining has some wear, please see photos. The exterior also shows signs of wear and use, as shown in photos. This piece is quite delicate as would be expected for the age.
