Antique Handcrafted Folk Art Sewing Box with Spool Holder

Measures:  14.5” tall, 6” wide, 7” deep

The spool holder is constructed with wooden spools!  How creative!  The finish has become “alligatored” with age. The original drawer pulls are still there, but the drawers can be a little tricky to open and close.  In one of the drawers, I found a note card with a small sample of crochet work pinned to it.  All the spools of thread are included.  There is no obvious damage to the piece, only expected signs of use.  The spool holder is moving about a bit but doesn’t appear to be in danger of detaching from the base.  I suspect this was made in the early 1900’s, perhaps the Depression Era.
