Antique Crazy Quilt – Hand-Stitched, Late 19th Century

Measures:  48" x 45", lace is 8" all the way around

This antique crazy quilt, likely made between 1880-1900, features a patchwork of silk, velvet, and brocade fabrics. It is entirely hand-stitched with decorative embroidery in various patterns, including feather, herringbone, and cross-stitching. Many patches are decorated with hand-painted or embroidered flowers, animals, and designs common in Victorian-era quilts.

The quilt is bordered with intact cream-colored lace. Some silk pieces have begun to shatter, which is typical of aged silk fabrics. The longer you look, the more details emerge—like a beautifully illustrated storybook, each patch telling its own story. Crazy quilts from this era were often made for display rather than everyday use, showcasing the maker’s needlework skills and artistic vision.

**Most quilts have been stored for some time. While I do not sell anything with strong or unpleasant odors, they may have a light storage scent. I air them outside before listing to freshen them up.**
