Antique Christening Gown with Embroidered Wool Slip & Provenance, c. 1900

The sheer white gown features a fine woven stripe, lace-trimmed yoke, short, puffed sleeves and a full gathered skirt. The cream wool slip is finished with white floral embroidery and openwork detailing along the hem.
The gown measures approximately 28" long and 14" across the chest, laid flat. Please see photos.
The back of the gown has no buttons or other closure, and I see no evidence that any were ever present. This appears to be part of the original construction, perhaps allowing the garment to be easily slipped on and off an infant.
Condition: Overall, very good antique condition with some scattered age-related spots and yellowing. I found no holes or rips. The outer gown is very delicate and should be handled with care; the wool slip is considerably sturdier. Please review all photos closely for condition.
Provenance: Original family notes identify the dress and wool petticoat as having been made for and worn by Robert Morse Jackson in 1900. The petticoat was later worn by his daughter Ruth in 1923 and his son Charles Morse Jackson in 1929. The original provenance notes are included with the set.

**Please Note: This is an authentic Edwardian-era garment. The lightweight cotton remains intact and displays beautifully, but it is delicate with age and should be handled gently. Due to its age, I cannot guarantee the fabric will perform like modern textiles or withstand regular wear. It is best suited for collecting, display, photography, or careful occasional wear. Please rely on the provided measurements rather than modern sizing and review all photos, as they are part of the description. Laundering is at the buyer's discretion.**
