19th Century Sewing Clamp – Thread Guide or Yarn Holder

This antique cast metal clamp is likely a 19th-century sewing tool, possibly used as a thread guide or yarn holder. The three rounded knobs suggest it may have been used to guide multiple threads or yarns while sewing, knitting, or lacemaking. Similar tools were used to control tension and organization of thread for handwork.  The clamp is in very good condition, with sturdy construction and a well-functioning screw mechanism that allows it to be fastened to a table or work surface. The metal has a rich patina, indicative of its age, and remains strong and durable.  I believe this is a very unusual piece, I have never seen one before!
