1920’s Whiting and Davis Mesh Purse, Flapper Fashion!

Measures:  Approx. 8” long, 3” wide, Wrist chain drop: 6”

This purse is in amazing condition!  There is no damage to the mesh, it is attached at all points to the beautiful gilt frame.  The Art Deco style frame has detailed embossed floral decoration.  The blue stone bejeweled clasp works perfectly, there is some dark patination on the clasp.  This could likely be cleaned. The wrist chain strap has no damage and is attached to the frame, it does have a bit of an aged patina. The Whiting and Davis hallmark appears on the frame near the clasp, “Soldered Mesh” and the number 9 is engraved on the frame near the hinge. This purse dates to the late 1920’s when Whiting and Davis used Dresden mesh, the mesh was silkscreened by hand in the Impressionist style.
