1907 Signed Quilt Square, Handstitched and Embroidered

Measures:  Approx. 24” X 24”

This appears to be a square for a  “Friendship Quilt”.  Each of the 4 pieces has a different backing and different materials and threads were used.  It is a study in sewing, embroidery, textiles and history!  The more you look the more you see!  One of the squares is stitched with “Kalispell, Mont”.  As this was discovered on the coast of Maine, I would say it was a traveling Friendship Quilt!  The materials vary from velvet to silk to wool to cotton and several more.  This square is in exceptional condition, it just needs a new friend to appreciate it!
