Mauchline Ware Thimble Holder with Sterling Silver Thimble, Dryburgh Abbey

This Mauchline Ware thimble holder features an image of Dryburgh Abbey and was made in Scotland, likely in the late 1800s to early 1900s.

The holder is in excellent condition. The transfer image remains clear, and the interior is lined with green velvet, which is intact and clean.

The sterling silver thimble is included. It is a size 9 and has the Waite Thresher (1870 - early 1900's) hallmark inside the apex. The thimble shows signs of use consistent with age, as shown in the photos, but is not out of round and has no punctures.

Measures 1.75" tall.

Mauchline Ware is so named because it was produced in or near a small town called Mauchline in Scotland. It is made of sycamore and often had transfer photos of popular tourist destinations. It was produced from the mid 1800’s until 1933 when the last Mauchline Ware factory was destroyed by fire.
