Waite Thresher Co., Sterling Silver Thimble with Lighthouse, Fishing Village Scene, Size 9

This sweet little thimble is one of my favorites!  I love the ocean!  The thimble could use some polish but the ocean, lighthouse, and fishing village scene is detailed and visible.  It was made by Waite Thresher Co of Providence, RI.  The company was active from 1884 to 1928.  I believe this design dates to around the 1890’s perhaps early 1900’s according to my research.  There is a hallmark in the top of the thimble as well as the word “sterling” and the number 9 indicating the size.  It’s amazing the details they fit on this thimble:  birds and clouds in the sky, waves in the ocean, trees, beams of light from the lighthouse.  There are no punctures, and it is not out of round.  What a great addition to a collection!
