Vintage Sewing Box with Contents! Sterling Thimble, Silks, Mother of Pearl Buttons and More!

Measures:  10.25" wide, 3.5" tall, 7.5" deep

There is so much in this lovely old sewing box!  The box itself is in good condition, the top has a nice old smoky mirror, the wood looks like mahogany, with gilt decoration.  There is a lock in place but the little key included doesn't seem to open it.  There is a velvet pin cushion with several pretty pins.  The thimble area is also velvet.  The thimble is sterling silver, size 9.  There is a hallmark in the apex, I believe it is Simons Bros.  There are 19 wooden spools of thread, mostly silks.  The buttons are all mother of pearl.  There is a bodkin, celluloid I believe.  The cloth tape measure is neatly rolled and pinned.  The tiny Kodak tin has an assortment of items.  The top tray lifts out, the bottom has a couple 6" rulers, one is celluloid, the other is a thick paperboard.  There is a needle book from Woolworth, most of the needles are in place.  And then there are some perfectly tiny tatted flowers with a nice bit of juicy gossip on the back of the attached paper.....  Dear Edith indeed!  I've had fun with this sewing box!! :-)
