Victorian wooden sewing box dating to the late 1800s, based on a piece of newspaper found inside dated 1891. The box is sturdy and well-preserved for its age, with original paper lining and a gilt floral design inside the lid. The box measures: 3" tall, 10" wide, 7.25" deep. One back corner of the box has a chip, as shown in the photos. This was clearly a much-used and well-loved sewing box.
Contents include:
• 21 small wooden spools of silk thread
• 7 regular wooden spools of silk thread
• 1 of the small spools is variegated blue silk thread (an uncommon find)
• 1 spool of J&P Coats crochet cotton
• Wool-covered pin disk
