Victorian Velvet Sewing Wedge and Contents

Measures:  5” tall, 9.5” long

This sewing wedge is made of silk velvet and was hand stitched.  I believe the lining is silk as are the ribbons.  Some of the decorative stitching on the outside is beginning to come away, please see the photos.  There are a couple of areas of wear on the velvet as well. The material inside is spotted but this is not a mildew situation.  This would have been used as a portable sewing kit, and I’m sure other necessities were stowed inside as well!  The contents are included as I thought it should be passed on as I found it. Contents include:  4 spools of silk thread, 2 paper needle holders, a needle keep made of flannel, hand stitched, and needles, a partially finished piece of crocheted lace, and a wooden tool with thread.
