Simons Bros Thimble, Sterling Silver with Gold Band, Size 8 (#3)

Simons Bros of Philadelphia, PA was founded in 1839 by George Washington Simons, at that time, they were manufacturers of gold and silver thimbles and pencil cases.  The company grew rapidly from there, expanding to include many gold and silver items including (!) tooth and ear picks, earrings and finger rings.  The 14k gold band on this thimble resembles a piece of jewelry, to me it looks like a wedding band.  It is a very solid, heavy thimble.  It is not out of round and there are no punctures.  The hallmark is visible in the apex of the thimble, but you really need a magnifying glass… or at least I do!
