Sewing Bird

This sewing bird is made of a heavy gauge steel.  It has been kept very nicely as there is no rust and no pitting.  The clamp is not bent, the screw to attach to a work surface works well and has a heart shaped handle!  The bowl for the pin cushion on his back is made of brass which makes a nice contrast with the steel.  The spring to open and close his beak is in place and works well.  I am not sure of the exact date that this bird was made but I believe it may be early to mid 1800’s.
