Set of 2 Vanity or Trinket Boxes, Bakelite and Lucite

Measures:  Bakelite Box - 4.5” X 2”, Lucite Box – 3.25” X 2”

I believe these date to around the 1920’s – 1930’s.  The Bakelite beauty has a pin cushion on the lid, perhaps for hat pins? The cushion does have signs of wear, it was used daily I would say! The bottom of the pin cushion lid is a pink material, the top has faded over the years. There are no chips or cracks in the Bakelite base, it is lined with a rose-colored velvet which is firmly in place with no holes or tears.  The bottom is stamped “La Coquette”.  This company was known for making celluloid/Bakelite vanity sets, the first of which were patented in 1922. There is the slightest whiff of perfume, a very pleasant scent!  The Lucite box is very art deco, with an adorable top knob and tiny feet.  The lid does have some repaired damage as pictured.  It is still a gorgeous piece for display or daily use!  Perfect for rings, earrings, or could be repurposed for a pin cushion base!
