Pair of antique Mauchline ware needle books with scenic transfers on the front covers. The larger book shows Auld Brig o’ Doon with a short verse from “Bonnie Doon,” and the smaller book features The Granville Hotel, Ramsgate. Both have their original interior fabrics—now faded—with the larger one having a velvet spine binding.

The exteriors of both books are in very good condition with clear transfers and intact bindings. The larger measures about 3.5" tall, and the smaller about 2.5" tall.

Mauchline Ware is so named because it was produced in or near a small town called Mauchline in Scotland. It is made of sycamore and often had transfer photos of popular tourist destinations. It was produced from the mid 1800’s until 1933 when the last Mauchline Ware factory was destroyed by fire.
