1880's Mauchline ware scoop featuring a clear transfer of Doune Castle on the base and a printed note stating that it was made from the wood of the old roofing of Doune Castle. The wood has a warm patina and smooth finish, and the scoop is in excellent condition with only light age marks typical of vintage Mauchline pieces.
Measures approximately 3.5" long and 2.25" wide.
Mauchline Ware is so named because it was produced in or near a small town called Mauchline in Scotland. It is made of sycamore and often had transfer photos of popular tourist destinations. It was produced from the mid 1800’s until 1933 when the last Mauchline Ware factory was destroyed by fire.
