Mauchline Ware Jewelry Presentation Box, High Street Elie Scene

This is a late 19th-century Mauchline Ware presentation box featuring a transfer image of High Street, Elie. The original green velvet interior is intact with no damage. The hinge opens and closes smoothly, and the box measures approximately 1" x 2.5" x 3.5". Likely used as a small jewelry or medal presentation box.

Condition is very good overall with light surface wear.

Mauchline Ware is so named because it was produced in or near a small town called Mauchline in Scotland. It is made of sycamore and often had transfer photos of popular tourist destinations. It was produced from the mid-1800s until 1933 when the last Mauchline Ware factory was destroyed by fire.
