Late 1800s - early 1900s Ketchum & McDougall Thimble, Sterling Silver and 14k Gold

This beautiful thimble is likely hand-tooled, with decorative scrollwork around the 14K gold band. It is a size 8. There are no punctures, and it is not out of round. The initials “JJ” appear on the band. It is marked 14K near the initials.  The Ketchum & McDougall hallmark and "Sterling" are engraved in the apex.  Ketchum & McDougall was based in New York City.  They were in business from approximately 1832 to 1932, producing high-quality silver thimbles and other sewing accessories.
