Late 1800’s Mauchline Ware Table/Box, “The Pier Worthing”

Measures:  3” tall, 4.25” wide, 2.75” deep

This little piece is reminiscent of a drop leaf table!  The top opens to reveal a velvet lining just right to hold trinkets or a few spools of thread!  The velvet is in very good condition.  The box doesn’t have any chips or cracks, the hinges are in place and work well.  The latch on the front is missing the top part.  The photo on the top has faded a bit, I think this was a favored piece of the collection!

Mauchline Ware is so named because it was produced in or near a small town called Mauchline in Scotland.  It is made of sycamore wood and often had transfer photos of popular tourist destinations.  It was produced from the mid 1800’s until 1933 when the last Mauchline Ware factory was destroyed by fire.

*Box only is included in sale, other item are my photo helpers :-)
