Late 1800’s Mauchline Ware Row Boat and Fountain Pen Oar, “San Sebastian”

Measures:  Boat – 7” long, 1” tall.  Oar – 9.5” long

This is certainly an unusual piece!  It is a writing desk set in the form of a boat and oar, the middle seat of the boat is lined with velvet, an ink well would have rested here.  The velvet is in very good condition, as is the entire piece!  The photos are clear and the wording is readable.  The pen tip is sharp!  This would be a great gift for display in an office or anywhere really!

Mauchline Ware is so named because it was produced in or near a small town called Mauchline in Scotland.  It is made of sycamore wood and often had transfer photos of popular tourist destinations.  It was produced from the mid 1800’s until 1933 when the last Mauchline Ware factory was destroyed by fire.
