Late 1800’s – Early 1900’s Beaded Wall Hanging

Measures:  10” tall, 6.5” wide

My research indicates that this wall hanging was made by the Iroquois Native Americans.  There are 2 pockets for holding matches, scissors, and other small household objects.  It is beaded with glass beads and sequins on a beige cotton material over a stiff paperboard.  There is a string loop at the top for hanging and tassels at the bottom for decoration.  One tassel on the end is missing.  There is some discoloration due to age, no other damage is apparent to me.  The Iroquois women often crafted these beaded items as souvenirs for tourists.    This wall hanging was discovered at an estate auction here in Maine.
