Late 1800’s Cast Iron Quilter’s Swing Sewing Clamp

Measures:  3.5” long

My research on this piece indicates that it is a swing clamp used for sewing and quilting. The piece would be clamped to a table, work bench or chair arm and the swing end of the clamp would tighten as needed depending on the fabric or threads.  There are gripper ridges on the swing part.  When used for quilting 4 or more would be employed to hold the corners and sides of the quilt to the table.  I believe it is made of cast iron and dates to the mid to late 1800’s.
