Late 1800’s Cast Iron Quilter’s Swing Arm Sewing Clamp

Measures:  3.5” long

My research on this piece indicates that it is a swing clamp used for sewing and quilting. The piece would be clamped to a table, work bench or chair arm and the swing end of the clamp would tighten as needed depending on the fabric or threads.  There are gripper ridges on the swing part.  I believe it is made of cast iron and dates to the mid to late 1800’s.
