Established in New York City in 1832, Ketcham & McDougall produced exceedingly high-quality thimbles. The company ceased production in 1932, during the depths of the Great Depression. The engraving on the band of this thimble is deep, it resembles stars. There is an area for engraving, this has been used but it doesn’t look like it was done professionally. It appears to say “Ada” or “Ella” but is open to interpretation! The thimble is not out of round and there are no punctures. It is hallmarked in the apex.
