Early 1900’s Large Sewing Box with Spindles for Spools, 2 Drawers, Pin Cushion

Measures:  8.5” tall, 12.25” wide, 10.5” deep

This sewing box was handmade, partially from an old crate (the drawers) which has “4 Doz.” stamped on it!  Eggs perhaps? Items like this were most often made with materials that were on hand or very inexpensive. The craftsmanship is wonderful.  I believe this piece was made around 1910-1920, perhaps a bit earlier.  The drawers slide in and out easily. The original pulls are in place.  The drawers are lined with a removable liner made with blue satin sewn around a piece of paperboard.  The original pin cushion is in place. The cushion does have staining and fading, to be expected for the age.  There are 9 spindles around the top. The taller ones in the back will hold 2 spools. There is one trim piece missing on the top, please see the photo.
