Early 1900’s Cast Iron Spool Holder

Measures:  10” tall

Ornate iron spool stands were patented in the early 20th century.  William Henry Simmons holds the patent for a double tiered stand just like this one.  The patent was granted on September 8, 1908.  The patent drawing shows a metal stand with two metal tiers topped by a pin cushion.  Each tier holds 6 spools.  This stand has lost its pin cushion over the years but I’m sure it could be replaced by a skilled hand!  There doesn’t seem to be any damage to the stand, the feet are all in place and I don’t see any chips or cracks in the stand.  It once had a lovely gilt paint which is still visible in places. The spools are included with the stand.
