Antique Wooden Spool Holder with Sterling Silver Thimble and Coats & Clark Thread in Glass Dome Display Case

Measures:  Spool Holder – 6.5” tall, 4” wide at widest point.  Display Dome – 8.5” tall, 6.75” wide

Isn’t this adorable??  The little spool holder has room for 6 spools and the top can hold a thimble!  The wooden middle spindle is threaded and unscrews so that the top can be removed, and the spools changed as needed.  I have included 6 spools of Coats & Clark Mercurized Sewing thread on wooden spools.  Also included is the sterling silver thimble, size 10, made by Waite Thresher of Providence, RI.  It is hallmarked in the apex of the thimble with the Waite Thresher star and the word “Sterling”.  The spool holder sits on three turned feet, one of the feet does have a chip – please see photo.  Otherwise, the spool holder is in wonderful condition!  The patina is amazing, I would estimate this spool holder to be at least 120 years old.

When found, the spool holder was sitting inside the glass display dome but not attached.  The dome is perhaps a bit newer than the spool holder.  The wooden bottom has been painted gold, I believe the glass dome is blown glass, you can see where the pontil mark was made smooth on the top of the dome.  The bottom of the glass dome is quite rough, I have tried to show this in the photos.  One nice thing about this two-fer is that they can be displayed together or separated for brand new, different displays!
