This antique Willcox & Gibbs electric sewing machine dates to the 1920s, it is one of the early electric adaptations of the chain-stitch models which were first patented in the mid 1800's. These machines are known for their quiet operation and were used for both home and industrial sewing.
This machine measures approximately 13" tall, 12.5" wide, and 6.5" deep. The wheel turns smoothly, the motor spindle moves freely, and the presser foot lever operates properly. The stitch plate shows some pitting but no rust, and the machine retains traces of its original floral decoration and gilt lettering. The wooden base has finger-jointed corners, the machine is solidly mounted on the base. Cords and a vintage foot pedal are included. The machine is untested and recommended for display or professional restoration.
