Antique Sterling Silver Vinaigrette

Well.  In the days before deodorant, daily showers and delights such as washing machines people generally stank.  It was just the way it was.  So ladies would carry little accessories called vinaigrettes.  These vinaigrettes would have a small piece of cloth inside which was doused with perfume and could be held to the nose for relief from certain atmospheres….  This vinaigrette is marked “Sterling” and still has the cloth inside.  And you can still smell the perfume!
