This box has a beautiful dark patina, the top has a simple inlaid design. This likely dates to the 1800’s. The interior is lined with green satin, I believe this is a later addition. The pin cushion has been recovered; however, it looks like period correct silk velvet was used for this. The cover has one stable repair, please see the photos. Also, due to age and use, the cover doesn’t sit perfectly on the base, this is shown in photos as well. There is a lock, the key has gone missing over the years. The bone crochet hooks are in very good condition, both of which date to at least the mid 1800’s, if not prior to this. The hinges look to be replacements. This is a good example of a well-loved, well used sewing box that has survived well over 100 years!
