Antique Baby Dress, Note Dated 1865, Tintype of Baby 1881

Measures:  Dress – 21” long, 12’ across chest

The unfinished dress and the note.  The dress is missing buttons and the note reads, “Mother made this little shirt for Emma.  She died suddenly before these eyelets were finished age 17 months.  Died Sept 20, 1865” The back of the note (in more recent writing) reads “Emma R. Rankin”.  The dress is in very good condition, it is a heavy cotton.  There is some aging apparent on the material.  I believe this could be washed away with the right detergent.  The photo is dated on the back 1881, perhaps this was a relative of little Emma?
