19th Century Tortoiseshell Thimble with Original Leather Presentation Case

This thimble is a bit of mystery in that I can’t find a hallmark or a size, the lining could be gold or pinchbeck which is an alloy of copper and zinc resembling gold.  What I do know is that it is tortoiseshell, and it is very old.  This thimble was found with a collection of thimbles dating from the early 1800’s to the early 1900’s.  The only comparison I can find is the "Piercy's Patent" thimble which is tortoiseshell as well and dates to 1816-1820.  The top of this thimble has 2 punctures, there are some scratches on the surface of the shell outside but otherwise it is good condition.  The leather case is still hinged together, the clasp lines up and works well.  The inside is lined with white silk and deep green velvet, both are in excellent condition.
