1942 Willcox & Gibbs Sewing Machine

I have used a few different sewing machines over the years and this one is by far the smoothest and makes the nicest stitches of any I’ve used!  Plus, it’s just a beautiful piece of machinery!    It is hand cranked, chain stitch but can also be hooked to an electric motor.  The crank is meant to turn in one direction only, and the leather piece is still in place to prevent turning in the wrong direction!  I used the instruction manual that came with the machine to learn how to thread it and sew with it.  There is a stitch gauge to be set according to the weight of the thread and material.  Also included is an original can of oil, nearly full, the tool to change needles, an envelope with needles and 2 brochures that would have been included in the sale.  The stitch plate has a wealth of information on it.  The silver wheel next to the hand crank is where the belt for the motor would attach.  There is some discoloration on this, I think it could be cleaned up if desired.  This machine could be used to sew daily, it works amazingly well, and I have enjoyed the privilege of being able to put it to good use!  Please contact me if you have any questions: tricia@lehays.com
