1920’s – 1940’s Chase Brass Tulip Bell with Bakelite Handle

Measures:  4” tall

This elegant tulip shaped brass bell dates to mid-century.  The handle is amber colored Bakelite.  Bakelite was commonly used for handles and knobs from the 1920’s through the 1950’s.  There is a hallmark inside the bell indicating it was made by Chase Brass & Copper Company.  The hallmark features a centaur holding a bow and was commonly used on their products.  Chase was well-known for high quality metal items, especially during the Art Deco period.  The bell is in very good condition, there are no chips or cracks in the handle.  The clapper can be removed, it clips back in place.  This appears to be intentional, not a result of damage. The brass petals have a beautiful patina which comes only with age.
