1910’s Fannie Merritt Farmer Recipe Cabinet

Measures:  4.5” tall, 5.75” wide, 4.25” deep

This recipe box is very well made, has finger jointed corners and the original hinges.  The original label is undamaged in the cover.  Fannie was an amazing lady, quick history:  She suffered a paralytic stroke at 16, took up cooking while in her parent’s care.  She turned her parent’s home into a boarding house with a reputation for delicious meals.  At the age of 30, she enrolled in the Boston Cooking School, was a top student and eventually became the school principal.  The first Fannie Farmer cookbook was published in 1896 and is still available today!
