1910’s – 1930’s Woven Sweet Grass Pincushion, Thimble Basket, and Scissor Basket with Sterling Scissors and Simons Bros Sterling Thimble

The detail on these hand woven sweet grass sewing notions is remarkable.  The weaving is absolutely perfect. My research leads me to believe these were made in the early 1900's.  They were likely crafted by local indigenous people of the northeastern US.  The woven items are all in very good condition.  Included with the woven items are a pair of scissors made in Germany and marked Sterling on the handles.  These are buttonhole scissors and I’ll admit to having to watch a video to find out how they work!  They are perfectly ingenious!  Also included with the thimble basket is a sterling silver thimble made by Simons Brothers, size 9 and engraved with the initials “AK”.  The thimble is not out of round but has one tiny puncture which you really have to look for in order to see.  The pincushion was once a pink velvet but has faded over the years.  There are no holes larger than a pin hole, there is some wear to the velvet which is to be expected for the age.
