1880’s to 1910’s Mauchline Ware Dice Shaker with Bone Dice

Measures:  1.5” tall

As gambling was sternly frowned upon, gaming items that could be easily hidden were preferred!  This little set fits the bill perfectly! The cup has a transfer photo of “Arrival of Columbus” and a decorative top.  The bone dice are hand carved and marked.  And tiny!  This set is in very good condition with only the expected signs of wear.

Mauchline Ware is so named because it was produced in or near a small town called Mauchline in Scotland.  It is made of sycamore wood and often had transfer photos of popular tourist destinations.  It was produced from the mid 1800’s until 1933 when the last Mauchline Ware factory was destroyed by fire.
