1880’s Randall & Stickney Dial Indicator Gauge

Measures:  8.5” tall, 4” across base

This is a heavy instrument, over 4 pounds! I didn’t know what it was when I chose to bring it home with me – I just liked the mechanical look of it!  Turns out it is an instrument used in machining and mechanical applications to ensure accurate measurements.  The base is very heavy to provide stability during measurement.  There is discoloration on the plate, the dial window is fogged.  I don't know if it is functional, I would recommend as a display piece only. There are decorations painted in gold. The attention to detail was extraordinary back in the day – even tools were made attractive!
