1880’s – 1910’s Mauchline Ware Thimble Holder with Sterling Silver Thimble, Pin Disk

Measures:  Thimble Holder – 2” tall, 1.75” deep, 1.5” wide.  Pin Disk – 2” wide

The thimble holder photo is “Pilgrim Monument, Provincetown, Mass.”  The hinge and clasp work well, the inside is lined with green velvet.  I have included a sterling silver thimble, size 9, marked “Sterling”.

The pin disk photo is “State Department Building, Washington”.  This little disk has been used, the blue velvet is a bit faded and does have pin holes in it.  The wood is in fine condition though.

Mauchline Ware is so named because it was produced in or near a small town called Mauchline in Scotland.  It is made of sycamore and often had transfer photos of popular tourist destinations.  It was produced from the mid 1800’s until 1933 when the last Mauchline Ware factory was destroyed by fire.
