1880’s – 1910’s Mauchline Ware Thimble Holder with Pincushion, Sterling Silver Thimble and Double Ended Pincushion

Measures:  Thimble Holder – 3” tall, Double Ended Pincushion – 2” long

The thimble holder has a photo of “State House, Boston“, and a brown velvet pincushion with some wear, as seen in the photo.  The thimble holder is in very good condition with no chips or cracks. I have included a Simons Brothers sterling silver thimble size 11, with initials “MAW“.  There are a couple of punctures, barely noticeable, it is not out of round.  The double ended pin cushion has brown velvet cushions. The photo is “Sulphur Springs and Bathhouse, Sharon Springs, NY”.   There is a small area of wear on the wood, please see the photo.

Mauchline Ware is so named because it was produced in or near a small town called Mauchline in Scotland.  It is made of sycamore and often had transfer photos of popular tourist destinations.  It was produced from the mid 1800’s until 1933 when the last Mauchline Ware factory was destroyed by fire.
