1880’s – 1910’s Mauchline Ware Tape Measure and Double Ended Pincushion

Measures:  Tape Measure – 2.5” tall, Pincushion – 2” long

The tape measure has a photo of “Bunker Hill Monument, 221 Feet High“. The tape measure has been wound inside but the bottom does come off, the tape is still there and could possibly be fed back out through the side.  I have shown this in the photographs.

The pin cushion has a photo of “Mount Pleasant House“. The burgundy velvet is in fair condition, it does show some wear.

Mauchline Ware is so named because it was produced in or near a small town called Mauchline in Scotland.  It is made of sycamore and often had transfer photos of popular tourist destinations.  It was produced from the mid 1800’s until 1933 when the last Mauchline Ware factory was destroyed by fire.
