1880’s – 1910’s Mauchline Ware Sewing Egg with Complete Kit

Measures:  3” long

This sewing egg has the complete kit included!  There are 2 colors thread (brown and white) which have never been used, a thimble (not sterling) and some pins and needles in the center peg.  The photo is “Block Island Harbor”.  There are some small flecks of red on the egg in one area and pencil writing in the cover.

Mauchline Ware is so named because it was produced in or near a small town called Mauchline in Scotland.  It is made of sycamore and often had transfer photos of popular tourist destinations.  It was produced from the mid 1800’s until 1933 when the last Mauchline Ware factory was destroyed by fire.
