1880’s – 1910’s Mauchline Ware Needle Case with 3 Bone Crochet Hooks

Measures:  Case – 9.5” long, Hooks – 5” long

This beautiful needle case is delicately detailed with floral accents, the picture is of “President Grant’s Cottage Long Branch”.  The case is in wonderful condition, it opens and closes easily.  I have included 3 carved bovine bone crochet hooks from the same era.  The hooks are very fine, each is a little different from the others, and could certainly be used today!

Mauchline Ware is so named because it was produced in or near a small town called Mauchline in Scotland.  It is made of sycamore and often had transfer photos of popular tourist destinations.  It was produced from the mid 1800’s until 1933 when the last Mauchline Ware factory was destroyed by fire.
