1880’s – 1910’s Mauchline Ware Footstool Pin Disk

Measures:  3” tall, 2.25” wide

This little footstool features a photo of a natural treasure which sadly no longer exists. And those of us who live in the Northeast miss him! The photo is “The Old Man of the Mountains, White Mountains, NH“.  The footstool is in very good condition, the legs are solidly in place.   The blue velvet around the edge is not worn. There is one chip on the top over the word “Old”, and some of the varnish has worn away in one spot on the lower edge. This is shown in photos.  There is a price tag on the bottom, but I’m not sure it’s the original price tag.

Mauchline Ware is so named because it was produced in or near a small town called Mauchline in Scotland.  It is made of sycamore and often had transfer photos of popular tourist destinations.  It was produced from the mid 1800’s until 1933 when the last Mauchline Ware factory was destroyed by fire.
